The Democratic Party has decided to exclude former representative Song Young-gil and Rep. Park Ju-min, who announced their candidacy for mayor of Seoul in the June local elections, from the nominations.

Former Chairman Song protested that it was an act of self-harm that destroys the Democratic Party, but within the party, the possibility of the strategic nomination of former Minister Park Young-seon is being discussed.

Democratic Party's Strategic Nomination Management Committee held an internal meeting yesterday (19th) and decided to exclude former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil and Rep. Park Ju-min from the nominations for Seoul mayor in the June local election.

Jeong Da-eun, a member of the strategic nomination management committee, wrote on Facebook that he would resign from his position as a strategic nomination committee, saying that he had decided to exclude former president Song Young-gil and lawmaker Park Ju-min.

It is reported that Lee Won-wook, chairman of the strategic nomination committee, also called former CEO Song yesterday and notified him of the exclusion of the nomination.

As the party leader during the presidential election, he was not free from the responsibility of losing the presidential election, and it seems that the judgment that the current of opposition within the party surrounding Song's candidacy was adversely affecting the election also played a role.

Song did not hide his uncomfortable feelings when he issued a statement and said that it would be an act of self-harm that virtually gave up local elections and destroys the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party Emergency Response Committee will soon take over the conclusion of the Strategic Nomination Committee and make a final decision on whether or not to exclude the nomination.

In the party, the possibility of re-election of former Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun, who ran for Seoul mayor at the time of the re-election in April last year, is being discussed as strong.

The possibility of Lee Nak-yeon's appointment as former CEO was raised, but it is said that former CEO Lee refused.

The Democratic Party's leadership plans to meet with former Minister Park in the near future to discuss his candidacy.
