Regarding support for Ukraine, Defense Minister Kishi revealed to reporters after the Cabinet meeting that he would provide protective masks, protective clothing, and drones for the chemical weapons possessed by the Self-Defense Forces.

In response to the request from the Ukrainian government, Minister of Defense Kishi said that he would provide protective masks and suits for chemical weapons owned by the Self-Defense Forces, as well as drones. It was revealed that it is adjusting for transportation to neighboring countries.

Minister Kishi said, "It is extremely important from the perspective of Japan's security to act in unison with the international community against Russia's invasion of violations of international law, and the Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces will continue to work in Ukraine. We will provide as much support as possible. "

Last month, the government revised the operational guidelines for the "Three Principles on Transfer of Defense Equipment" to provide the Self-Defense Forces bulletproof vest to Ukraine, saying that it can only provide non-killing equipment to Ukraine, which has been invaded by violations of international law. It is clearly stated that protective masks and protective clothing also fall under this category.

Drones, on the other hand, are commercially available and are not considered defense equipment.
