Their lifeless bodies were found in the street.

Two septuagenarians died by firearm Monday evening in Le Mans in what is similar to a feminicide followed by a suicide, announced the parquet floor on Tuesday.

"The first elements of the investigation collected lead to suspect that the husband would have shot his wife, before turning the weapon against him and killing himself", writes the prosecutor Delphine Dewailly, in a press release.

The police were alerted Monday around 10:30 p.m., after shots were fired on the public highway, in the Cité des Pins district of Le Mans.

On the spot, a 75-year-old woman, lying on the ground and with a back injury, could not be saved despite the efforts of the emergency services.

The body of her husband, 72, was found nearby, "a hunting weapon at his side", according to the prosecution.

Couple unknown to services

“An autopsy of the bodies will be carried out.

The couple was totally unknown to the investigation services for never having drawn unfavorable attention, ”says the magistrate.

The hunting weapon used during the drama "was held legally and in accordance with the rules governing the matter", according to the same source, which specifies that the investigation was entrusted to the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) of the Le Mans police.
