Pablo Iglesias believes that Yolanda Díaz will go "much further" than him as leader of the political space to the left of the PSOE.

But he asks him not to trust the word of Pedro Sánchez, whom he sees as capable, despite the fact that this Monday he assumed that the next legislature will govern in coalition with Díaz's new project, of articulating a solo Executive if he achieves the necessary numbers in the next elections.

"In politics you should not trust anyone's word," said the former Vice President of the Government during the presentation, this Tuesday, of the book

Truths to the face.

Memories of the crazy years

, in which he reviews his last years in political life and details his time in the coalition government, from which he left in March 2021.

"If someone thinks that the PSOE is not going to try, if they give the numbers, having a government alone is that they simply have not understood anything of what has happened in recent years," said Iglesias, who, as he did hours ago Pablo Echenique highlighted the role that United We Can have to play in Díaz's future plans and recalled that if the vice president is today one of the country's main political assets, it is because Podemos dared to enter the Government.

"If precisely our political space has a political figure with such a spectacular projection as Yolanda Díaz, it is because there was a core of Podemos leaders, the most attacked, the most insulted, the most criminalized: Pablo Echenique, Ione Belarra, Juanma del Olmo , Irene Montero... That, at a certain moment, against the criteria of all media progress and a part of our political space, they said: govern, govern, govern".

Crucial moment for UP

Iglesias's words come at a sensitive moment for the future of the space to the left of the PSOE.

Yolanda Díaz announced this Tuesday that she will soon relaunch the "listening process" prior to the formation of her political platform, which she had paralyzed days ago due to the uncertainty derived from the impact of the invasion of Ukraine in our country.

However, the role that Podemos plays in this project remains a mystery and Sánchez's statements on Monday suggested that he considers the purples to be amortized and is already waiting for a new political concept from the vice president.

An extreme that from United We Can, which continues to claim its validity in the progressive achievements of the Executive, discards, as Iglesias did this Tuesday.

"The result" of having passed through the Government despite the persecution, Iglesias continued, "is that Yolanda Díaz exists", in relation to her time in the Coalition Executive, first as a minister and since Iglesias' departure, in addition, as vice president.

"The condition of possibility for that to happen is Podemos."

Diaz, absent

In the book, the result of the conversations between the former leader of Podemos and the journalist Aitor Riveiro, Iglesias recalls how he warned Díaz -whom he decided to appoint as his successor during the summer of 2020- of the need to weave a "core of trust" in his around, since a lack of "loyalty", he reflects, has been the main obstacle to progress in the purple leadership in recent years.

In the same way, Iglesias considers in his dialogue that Díaz will face, as soon as she decides to take the step of being a candidate for the presidency of the Government, she will suffer a "crueler" persecution than that experienced by both Iglesias and Irene Montero.

The Minister for Equality attended the presentation of the book, at the Matadero culture center in Madrid, accompanied by the entire Podemos apparatus, including the Minister for Social Rights and Secretary General of the party, Ione Belarra.

Also the Minister of Consumption and leader of the United Left, Alberto Garzón, as well as the Secretaries of State Enrique Santiago, Nacho Álvarez or Ángela Rodríguez
