1.4 million euros: this is the sum that Valérie Pécresse has so far collected after her call for donations the day after the first round.

The candidate had not reached the 5% necessary for the reimbursement of her campaign expenses.

A heavy defeat for Les Républicains, who now have their eyes turned towards the legislative elections.

Elections in the shape of a cleaver for LR who plays very big in June.

After Valérie Pécresse's defeat in the presidential election, her party, Les Républicains, is trying to bounce back.

The tenors of the right now have their eyes turned towards the legislative elections.

Elections in the shape of a cleaver for LR who plays very big in June.

The party wants to remain ambitious despite the slap received in the presidential election.

Focus on local anchoring

If no one excludes good surprises, the right aims first and foremost for the re-election of the maximum number of outgoing deputies.

80 elected officials out of the current 104 should put their seats back on the line. Among the sources of hope: local roots, which many deputies will put forward as their main argument, and the very great hostility of certain voters towards Emmanuel Macron or Marine Le Pen, who could play in favor of LR in the event of a duel in the second round.

But the big unknown at this stage is the number of LR deputies who could switch to the future majority.

Several of them are also in discussion, sometimes advanced, with those close to Emmanuel Macron.

"After the second round, it will fall like dominoes," anticipates a party expert.

Avoid the debacle of the Socialist Party

Several executives are thus betting on around twenty departures of elected officials in the event of the re-election of the outgoing president.

A concern shared by those who say they are sure to stay.

"If we keep 50 deputies it will already be quite a lot," says an adviser, who, like many, would like to avoid the debacle of the Socialist Party, which went from 258 to 30 deputies between 2012 and 2017.
