Amazement and dread reigned in the train.
Monday, around 11:40 a.m., a mother and her two young children were attacked and beaten by a man in a metro train which was stopped at Villejean-Université station, in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine).
According to a police source, the 22-year-old mother was accompanied by her two children aged 1 and 2 when she saw a man attacking her.
The young woman and one of her children were punched, especially in the head.
The other child was injured in the lip by a stab wound.
He came out bleeding.
The assailant fled before the police arrived.
Thanks to numerous witnesses, the police were able to arrest a suspect an hour later in downtown Rennes.
According to a police source, the man would be 46 years old.
He was taken into custody to be heard.
