The Quick-Step team, which announced the composition of its group on Monday, underlines that Evenepoel will compete for the first time in this race, the outcome of which comes at the top of the Huy wall.

Alaphilippe is undefeated since 2018 in the Flèche wallonne, which he also won in 2019 and 2021 but which he had not run in 2020, in the days following his first world title.

He placed second in his first two appearances, in 2015 and 2016, each time behind Spaniard Alejandro Valverde.

In addition to Evenepoel, who helped him win a stage in the recent Tour of the Basque Country, Alaphilippe will notably have Belgians Mauri Vansevenant, Ilan Van Wilder and Louis Vervaeke at his side.

If he won the Flèche wallonne for the fourth time, the Frenchman would be closer to Valverde's record, five times winner between 2006 and 2017.
