China News Service, April 18 (Reuters) - Turkey launched air and ground strikes against Kurdistan Workers' Party militants in northern Iraq, Turkish Defense Minister Akar announced on the 18th local time.

Akar said Turkish warplanes, helicopters and drones "successfully" hit targets such as Kurdish bunkers, ammunition depots and camps, and ground forces subsequently launched cross-border strikes.
He also said that the plan is progressing smoothly, and the first phase goals have been achieved.
