This is perhaps not the first danger that hikers, who went for a walk in the town of Cabrerets, near Cahors, had imagined facing.

As they took a bridge that spans the Célé river, they were attacked by a swarm of bees, reports France Bleu Occitanie.

An established security perimeter

Before the emergency services intervened, the biting insects attacked in particular one of the hikers, bitten more than thirty times.

Cornered by the bees, she chose to jump into the water.

She fainted but was not injured in her fall.

As a precaution, she was transported to the University Hospital of Cahors.

The other hikers targeted by the bees were able to return directly to their homes.

Firefighters have established a security perimeter around this area, which is very popular with walkers and canoeists.

They rescued eight hikers threatened by bees.

Beekeepers have been asked to spread products to keep them away from this area, which will remain under surveillance for some time.
