The Department of Radiology at Rashid Hospital obtains international accreditation from the American College

In a new achievement added to the achievements of the Dubai Health Authority, the Department of Radiology at Rashid Hospital obtained international accreditation from the American College of Radiology, which is the legal authority to practice radiology in the world, so that Rashid Hospital is the first government hospital to obtain this accreditation at the state level. And the second after Cleveland Hospital.


The American College of Radiology follows a set of strict procedures and standards and precise conditions, before granting such accreditation, which gives the holder a prestigious position globally, reflecting the rapid development of the Department of Radiology, the level of equipment and technologies it possesses, as well as safety and security factors and an outstanding health climate, in addition to Elite human cadres of doctors and support technicians, who are in charge of the department, and other things that characterize the Radiology Department at Rashid Hospital.


Consultant and Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Department at the Dubai Health Authority, and Head of the Radiology Department at Rashid Hospital, Dr. Osama Al Bastaki said that obtaining the accreditation went through precise steps, and stages of audit, measurement, evaluation and verification of all the required proofs and documents.

He explained that the steps began with:


studying and analyzing the material requirements, so that we developed an estimated plan for the cost of obtaining accreditation in the specialties of CT scan, MRI and ultrasound, and then direct communication was made with the Office of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (supporting the project). ) for the purposes of study and financial audit.  


Then came the next step, represented in: The official registration on the American College website in the name of the Radiology Department at Rashid Hospital, and the names of all the professionals working in the department were listed.

This is in addition to listing all academic qualifications for radiologist.

As there are requirements that must be met by service providers of doctors and technicians, including a minimum of scientific qualifications and practical experience to work in various branches of medical imaging.

This was another major requirement.

After the official registration, the department received the required ACR package for each specialty according to the listed devices and examinations (details are mentioned in the attached accreditation certificates).


Dr. Al-Bastaki continues his explanation of the steps for obtaining accreditation, saying: We have created different teams for each of the specialties included in the accreditation.

The team included the most efficient doctors and technicians with expertise in the above types of radiology.

(Resonance, CT, and sonar) This is in addition to the use of the medical physics team at the Health Authority, and then we followed the remaining steps and procedures, until we obtained this accreditation, which we are proud of, and consider it an important achievement for the Authority and Rashid Hospital, in addition to being an incentive for the Radiology Department, to continue updating development, and achieving more excellence.
