Rasmus Paludan's burning of the Koran is also noticed in Denmark, where the right-wing extremist politician failed to be elected to the Folketing in the 2019 election. Sören Juhler on Danish TV2 has followed Paludan on parts of his "election tour" through southern Sweden during Easter.

The purpose has been, among other things, to talk to people who live in the districts that the controversial politician visited, including Skäggetorp in Linköping.

On Easter Eve, the team was at Skånegården in Malmö, where Paludan had been referred since his planned appearance in Landskrona was canceled by the police.

Sören Juhler describes how the politician stood behind double fences and shouted into a megaphone at the same time as he set fire to one Koran after another.

Juhler says that he experienced the atmosphere at the place as surprisingly good, even though many loudly expressed their disapproval of Paludan.

Both women and children were in the crowd and many people wanted to talk to the team, but without being filmed.

- We were clearly impressed by the dialogue police who walked around among people and tried to speak to them calmly.

Stone throwing broke out

But then everything changed when a car was suddenly driven against the riot fence - an incident that is now classified as attempted murder.

The police decided to disperse the crowd and for people to leave and within a few minutes the riot was a fact.

- Suddenly some people started throwing stones at the police and it quickly became tumultuous when people started running away.

Someone overturned the camera and ran over our photographer who ended up on the hill where someone else took the opportunity to kick him in the chest.

I myself was hit on the shoulder by a stone that someone threw.

Fortunately, no one in the team was seriously injured, and on Easter day after, a tender bruise is the only thing that reminds Sören Juhler of the drama in Malmö.

- It was just about to become the story of how Rasmus Paludan came to Malmö without succeeding in creating chaos.

But then it went wrong.
