Asked about those who could vote for him "by covering their noses", only to block the far right, the president-candidate replied: "we must choose the best for (s) self and the best for society. But you can't be in a society where as soon as it's not exactly what I want, it becomes nonsense."

The Head of State says he understands that some are struggling to find the motivation to go to the polls on Sunday, when neither of the two candidates corresponds to them.

"Maybe if I was 20, I would be like them, in that absolute sense. But life in society is all about compromise and so things might not work out exactly the way I want. The purity of the idea that we defend is not necessarily the one that will triumph", he adds during this interview carried out on Saturday on the sidelines of his meeting in Marseille.

According to him, it is inherent in the functioning of a presidential election: "in the first round, in general, you choose the project to which you adhere the most. And in the second round, you eliminate. It has always existed, there are people who were communists once and who had to choose between a socialist they didn't like at all is someone on the right. The second round, you don't necessarily have your candidate."

On the other hand, what "makes him angry" is "people who say: it's worth it".

"Sorry, but Madame Le Pen's project is not the same thing and mine, the far right and what I defend, it's not the same thing".
