The man was wearing a shirt with the text "Örebroandan leader" on his back and according to one of SVT's reporters on site, he participated in the riot.

Aimed at young people

Örebroandan is a project that offers young people the opportunity to play sports for free on weekends.

They are part of Örebro County Football Association and are supported with million contributions from Örebro Municipality.

According to the project's website, the aim is to get young people moving and give them meaningful employment.

Chafic Dana, chairman of Örebroandan, confirms for SVT Nyheter Örebro that the man is the leader of the project.

- Yes unfortunately.

He is not directly employed by us, but we have a contract with his association.

Indirectly, he is a leader in the Örebro spirit, he says.

What has happened to this leader now?

- He is not allowed to work under Örebroandan's name.

He is completely suspended.

Injured police officers

The riots in Sveaparken began as a protest against the right-wing extremist party Stram kurs burning the Koran in Örebro, but escalated rapidly.

A dozen police officers were injured in the riots and several police cars were burned.
