In his appeal, he noted that since the end of February, Western countries have introduced new sanctions against Russia.

One of the vulnerable groups in these conditions were families with obligations on mortgage loans.

In accordance with the current law, a citizen who has taken a mortgage has the right to take advantage of the so-called mortgage holidays - to reduce or suspend loan payments for up to six months in the event of difficult life circumstances.

At the same time, according to the law, vacations are provided once during the term of one mortgage agreement, Orlov noted.

“Given the current economic conditions, in order to support citizens with mortgage obligations, I ask you, together with the banking community, to consider the advisability of abolishing penalties for late payments on mortgage loans until the end of 2022,” the appeal says.

In March, new amendments to the legislation came into force, allowing citizens who have already used credit holidays to use them again - to submit an application no later than September 30.

At the same time, only citizens whose loan amount does not exceed the limit established by the Russian government will be able to use the grace period.

Thus, residents of Moscow have the opportunity to take mortgage holidays if their loan does not exceed 6 million rubles, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Far East - with a loan amount of not more than 4 million rubles, residents of other regions of Russia - with a loan of no more than 3 million rubles.
