Today, 143 fires have been extinguished in Russia's forests with an area of ​​more than 4.8 thousand hectares, the Agency for the Protection of Air Forests from Fires announced.

"143 fires have been extinguished in an area of ​​4,785 hectares in Russia during the past day," the authority said in a statement, published by the Russian "Sputnik" agency.

"By midnight on April 18, there were 48 forest fires in Russia covering an area of ​​3,082 hectares, and they were actively extinguished. Most of them are in the Khakassia region, and there are four fires on an area of ​​1,175 hectares," the statement noted.
