To get rid of her... an American puts his grandmother in the fridge while she's alive

Georgia state police say a man killed his grandmother by putting her in a freezer while she was still alive.

Floyd County Police discovered the body of Doris Cumming, 82, late Thursday in the home where she was living with her 29-year-old grandson, Robert Keith Tencher III.

Tencher was charged with murder, severe battery, and concealing the death of another person.

He is still in custody.

Police said Cumming's family believed she had left the state, but became concerned after receiving no news of her and believed she was missing.

Police said they believe Cumming was injured when she fell in December, and instead of taking her for medical attention, Tencher dragged her home.

The indictment says Tencher "heard and saw many of his grandmother's bones being broken".

Then he wrapped it in plastic bags and put it in a large refrigerator.

Tencher admitted, "Her back was broken in the refrigerator."

The indictment says that "there was no quarrel or provocation" that led to these actions.

"Based on our findings, it was believed, at the time, that she was still breathing and moving at the time he put her in the fridge," said Brittany Werner, a Floyd County Coroner.

Tencher continued to live at home with the body in the refrigerator for several months, but moved it to a storage unit in March, fearing that the body would be found.
