• Events Arrested for killing his wife in Vilanova del Camí

The Igualada

Guard Court

has ordered provisional detention, communicated and without bail for the detainee by the

Mossos d'Esquadra

and the

Vilanova del Camí Local Police

(Barcelona) for killing his partner at a home in this town.

The cause of this new sexist crime is provisionally open for homicide.

The agents arrested the 42-year-old suspect early Friday morning when he assaulted his 45-year-old partner in the presence of one of his daughters in the family home.

Police sources indicated that they surprised the defendant beating the victim, although he had previously stabbed her repeatedly.

The emergency services took the woman to the hospital due to the seriousness of her injuries, but she died hours later.

Apparently, the victim wanted to leave her partner and he did not accept the decision.

However, there were no previous complaints for previous attacks.

Early Friday morning he went to the victim's house and assaulted her until she was mortally wounded.

An emergency call alerted the police and, therefore, a patrol car appeared and arrested him.

This Saturday, some 200 people gathered in the

Vilanova del Camí Town Hall

square (Barcelona) for this new case of domestic violence.

Both the mayor of the town,

Noemí Trucharte

, and the Secretary for Feminism of the Generalitat,

Montserrat Pineda

, condemned the crime and asked for policies to eradicate this patriarchy, this machismo, this violence that kills more women every day.

"The institutions express our support to the family, to the closest people, but also to the neighbors, who are shocked. Because they must understand that these situations are abnormal. We cannot get used to the fact that in

Catalonia

, in the State, the aggressions are normal. And less a femicide, as in this case, "said Pineda.

The Consistory ordered a day of official mourning for this crime, so this Saturday the flags of the Consistory flew at half-staff.

With this victim, 11 women have died in

Spain

due to sexist violence this year.
