A leading suspect in the disappearance of 16 years ago in Alabama, USA, has been sentenced to life in prison for murder and other charges, even though the body has not been found.

On the 14th local time, local media such as WRBL NEWS 3 and CBS reported that a court in Lee County, Alabama, murdered 24-year-old Lori Ann Slesinski (24 years old at the time) in the Urban area 16 years ago, and charged with kidnapping and theft. It also reported that Rick Ennis, 41, was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

According to prosecutors, Ennis is charged with murdering Rory for not allowing her to have more than her friends.

Local police, who began an investigation in June 2006 after her mother reported her mother's disappearance, found her car of her Laurie set on fire and abandoned by her side of the road.

Ennis, who was believed to have been the last person she had met Lori at the time, was questioned by the police, who disappeared after she left the Urban area.

Twelve years later, in 2018, Ennis was arrested in Virginia for the first time in 12 years, and local prosecutors charged him with murder and sought the death penalty.

At the trial, investigators said that Ennis's body fluids and blood were in Rory's mobile home, and that they found a cigarette with Ennis' DNA stained on it near a phone in Rory's bedroom and a burned-out car.

Another investigator took photos of Ennis's arms and hands that appear to have been scratched by Lori, and testified that Ennis's car was found to contain cleaning supplies, knives and handcuffs.

To this, Ennis replied, 'I didn't kill Laurie.' She said, 'She and Laurie were good friends and had consensual sex, and the nail marks were caused by a dog.'

Regarding the DNA found, his legal representative said, 'Someone intentionally brought something buried by Ennis's extraction to Laurie's house. no,' he claimed.

After a two-day long deliberation, the jury found Ennis guilty, and after meeting with the victim's mother, the jury sentenced Ennis to life in prison without parole.
