Flightradar.com data shows that China Eastern flight MU5843 left the southwestern city of Kunming at 9:58 a.m. local time (0158 GMT) and landed in Chengdu at 11:03 a.m.

The three-year-old Boeing 737-800 then left Chengdu, also in southwest China, at 1:02 p.m. local time and returned to Kunming, with further flights scheduled for Tuesday.

On March 21, China Eastern flight MU5735 was traveling from Kunming to Guangzhou when it nosedived into a mountainside, instantly disintegrating and killing all 132 people on board.

The cause of this accident, the deadliest in China for more than 30 years, is not yet known.

It forced China Eastern to ground all its Boeing 737-800s for security checks, while aviation authorities promised a two-week thorough inspection of the country's vast fleet.

It is a major setback for Boeing in China, the last major market where the US manufacturer is still awaiting clearance to re-fly its 737 MAX after crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia that killed 346 people between them. 2018 and 2019.

The plane's two black boxes are currently being analyzed in a US lab with the help of US government investigators.

Beijing had announced that a preliminary investigation report would be completed within 30 days of the crash.
