The violence of recent days in Östergötland, Stockholm and Örebro has all taken place before the demonstrations of the Danish right-wing extremist Rasmus Paludan where he planned to burn the Koran.

In Örebro, however, the demonstration was never held due to disturbances.

- We were a little surprised by the level of aggression.

But we were prepared and had good skills and abilities in place.

Not only from Bergslagen but also from other regions in the country, says Peter Karlsson, chief of police at the Bergslagen region, in SVT's Morgonstudion.

About 200 people are said to have participated in the disturbances in Örebro.

No one has yet been arrested or suspected of the incidents, which are being investigated as violent riots, according to police.

The demonstrations continue

Peter Karlsson says that the situation in Örebro has calmed down during the night, but points out that new demonstrations are planned in other cities.

- We have prepared for other places in the country, he says.

On Saturday, Paludan is planning another Koran burning, in Landskrona.

But the permit for the gathering may be revoked by the police.

- We have previously allocated resources to handle this, but now of course you have to take another collective grip on the situation given what has happened in recent days, says Kim Hild, press spokesperson at Police Region South, to TT.
