He was off work but still went out to follow the events in Örebro on Friday.

What he saw made him fear for the lives of his colleagues.

Well over 100 people were active in acts of violence against the police, says Mats Öhman, who is a spokesman for the Bergslagen police region and has many years of experience as a police officer.

- They went out to injure police, he says.

- At a given signal, everything broke loose with stone throwing at the police.

There were very many who had masked themselves from the start and who brought stones with them.

It was quite obvious to me that they completely ignored whether they injured or killed police officers.

"Deeply unhappy"

Mats Öhman says that when he left the place, he was unsure whether he had dead or seriously injured colleagues.

- Thankfully, no one is seriously injured, but there are still twelve colleagues who have been injured because they have done their job.

They have families who want them to come home unscathed and they did not do it this time, it is deeply unfortunate, says Mats Öhman.
