Next Tuesday, the Socialist Party is meeting its national council, a sort of "parliament" of the party, to take stock of the presidential election and monitor progress on possible agreements for the legislative elections, we learned on Wednesday from several sources. at PS.

“In no case will it be a national council for the settlement of accounts”, assures a PS executive, after the catastrophic result of the socialist candidate Anne Hidalgo, who collected only 1.75% of the votes in the first round of the presidential.

A strategic political campaign committee

“Whatever the trends, everyone is in the same boat, and is focused on the legislative elections,” explains the same source.

“At the PS, when you are in a situation of survival instinct, everyone is one,” he assures.

The date of this national council, which will bring together around 300 members, was decided on Tuesday evening, during a meeting of the National Office in which around 60 people participated.

The national office has also set up a strategic political campaign committee, which will follow the progress of the preparation of the legislative elections and will implement the strategy on the ground.

This committee will be made up of around ten people, including First Secretary Olivier Faure, Anne Hidalgo, the president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga, the mayor of Nantes Johanna Rolland, the patron saint of deputies Valérie Rabault.

The leader of the minority branch of the PS Hélène Geoffroy and the national secretaries Boris Vallaud, Pierre Jouvet and Sébastien Vincini will also participate.
