China News Service, Beijing, April 15 (Reporter Li Jingze) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on April 15.

A reporter asked a question about the US Congressman's visit to Taiwan.

Zhao Lijian: I made clear China's solemn position on the US Congressional delegation's visit to Taiwan yesterday. China firmly opposes any form of official exchanges between the US and Taiwan.

U.S. congressmen should abide by the one-China policy pursued by the U.S. government, abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiques, stop official exchanges between the U.S. and Taiwan, and they should not make irresponsible remarks.

China will continue to take effective measures to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

I believe you have also noticed that the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army has issued a relevant statement. The relevant actions of the Chinese military are a countermeasure to the recent negative actions of the United States, including the visit of a congressional group to Taiwan.
