His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, stressed the importance of self-education for media professionals and interest in thought, book, reading, research, science and knowledge, which contributes to media professionals’ mastery of their important work in the advancement of society, and the writing of honest and useful speech.

This came during the meeting of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah last night in His Highness’s Majlis at Al Badi Al Amer Palace, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, a group of leaders of media institutions in the country, editors-in-chief of local newspapers and a number of media professionals, where His Highness exchanged with them Congratulations on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, praying to God Almighty to restore this occasion dear to the hearts of Muslims with goodness, Yemen and blessings upon the United Arab Emirates and the Arab and Islamic nations.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness welcomed the attendees and expressed his thanks for the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi in leading the media in the Emirate of Sharjah, working to promote it, and making sure to hold this annual meeting with media professionals.

His Highness praised the efforts of media professionals in various media agencies, writers, and daily newspapers in the country, pointing to his personal follow-up to what is written and broadcast, which confirms the importance of media work in serving the community, reversing all challenges and contributing to the advancement and education of society.

His Highness called on everyone who works in the field of media to pay attention to the word and direct it in the right direction for the benefit of society and its benefit, and to stay away from what does not reflect the compassion, cooperation and authenticity of the society. His Highness explained the insightful vision of the goals of media, reading and science and said: "Today we meet with you on the word, and the word exists and was originally written, and whoever wants to be educated and navigate must read, and we have been calling for reading for fifty years, and we say read, read because as much as you read as much as you read It does not rise, and reading is the opposite of listening, because what comes with the air goes with the air, and what comes with reading and looking at it falls in the heart.”

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah called for interest in the book, reading, publishing and following it, recalling his memories of his journey with the book since childhood and early school days, and encouraging His Highness's uncle, the late Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, who owned a library, in which His Highness used to spend all his time.

His Highness reviewed the beginning of the existence of books and their connection to people's lives since ancient times and the documentation of historical events, from the days of our master Noah, peace be upon him, to our master Abraham, peace be upon him, and the rest of the prophets, passing through our master Jesus, peace be upon him, stressing the importance of research and depth to reach the facts in all sciences.

His Highness dealt with his journey with the book through the countries to which he traveled, as his connection with libraries was not cut off during all his foreign trips to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain during a trip to Hajj, and then to the Arab Republic of Egypt when His Highness went to study at Cairo University, which His Highness described as a rich experience. And it constituted an important turning point for His Highness in the formation of knowledge and the acquisition of the mothers of books, by going to various libraries and following up on literary salons, despite the many responsibilities of His Highness by studying in a practical applied college.

His Highness reviewed the Emirate of Sharjah’s march with culture, the necessity of the media’s participation in its dissemination, and the widespread interest in all members of society in order to ensure new educated generations know their history and identity, explaining the importance of participating in various international forums such as book fairs that give the opportunity to expand knowledge, knowledge, dialogue, clarify facts and cultural communication. with different nations of the world.

His Highness recited verses from the poem "The Sources of Glory", which he wrote out of pride in Sharjah and celebrates Sharjah's relationship with the book, and reflects His Highness' keenness to spread culture and adopt it as an immortal message to the Emirate of Sharjah, in which he stated: "The Sources of Glory is to come and smile.. Today, your pen comrades have visited you, the boats of light.
