Autobahn GmbH still does not see itself in a position to give a date for the completion of the new construction of the Salzbach Viaduct, which was blown up at the beginning of November last year.

After there was talk before the big bang of January 2023 and then of the first quarter of 2023 for the traffic release of the new southern bridge, Autobahn GmbH later moved to "autumn" and the "fourth quarter of 2023".

Actually, drivers should have known the exact date by now.

Because when asked by the FAZ a few weeks ago, it said: "More detailed information regarding the construction schedule, we keep our word here, we will present to the public by the end of March 2022."

In mid-April there is no longer any talk of this.

Autobahn GmbH is now asking for your understanding that a “dynamic load test” was necessary before the production of two large bored piles for the new southern bridge.

Only after evaluating the results of this test can a “further construction schedule” be presented.

This exam will take place in mid-May.

This is obviously not good news for commuters.

In the meantime there are rumors that the contracted construction company is said to have raised high demands for a possible construction acceleration.

Autobahn GmbH dodged questions from the FAZ about the negotiations and about what hurdles or different positions between builders and contractors there might be that stand in the way of accelerating construction.

No information will be given about "internal negotiations with construction companies".

"Work is going on in all construction areas"

The Autobahn GmbH reports that work has been going on in all construction sites since January.

The focus is on the eastern abutment and the eastern pillar between the B 263 and the railway lines.

In the so-called cycle cellar, the foundations for the shifting devices were made and the foundations for the new abutment were cast.

The foundations of the old bridge between the B 262 and the railway lines had also been removed and the bored piles for the southern bridge had been completed.

The western abutment of the old south bridge was demolished in January and that of the north bridge in March.

The excavation pit was dug for the further west crossing of the Aartalbahn.

For the future north bridge, the construction site had been cleared and the vegetation cleared.

The construction site had previously been examined for duds from the Second World War.

Construction roads have also begun.
