As one of the military officers told journalists, “it was pointless to resist further,” because the Ukrainian military was running out of provisions, water, shells and ammunition.
According to him, “no one even helped the Ukrainian military,” and their commanders did not interfere with the decision to surrender.

Earlier, the headquarters of the territorial defense of the Donetsk People's Republic reported that as of the evening of April 13, 1,350 Ukrainian marines from the 36th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had surrendered.
