China News Service, April 14. According to a report from Sky News, on the 13th local time, David Wolfson, an official in charge of human rights and constitutional affairs at the British Ministry of Justice, said that he resigned due to the illegal gathering in the Prime Minister's Office.

In his resignation letter to the prime minister, Wolfson said he resigned not only because of the incident itself, or Prime Minister Johnson's "personal conduct", but also because of the "official response to the incident".

Wolfson said he "again, with great regret, concludes that it is inconsistent with the rule of law that violations of this scale, circumstances and nature are not constitutionally punishable."

According to previous reports, British Prime Minister Johnson and his wife, as well as Chancellor of the Exchequer Sunak and others were fined for participating in a party held at the Prime Minister's Office in June 2020, which violated the British epidemic prevention policy at the time.

On April 12, local time, Johnson said he had paid the fine and publicly apologized, but said he would not resign.

According to reports, Wolfson is the first Conservative government official to resign since the illegal gathering in the Prime Minister's Office was exposed.
