Easter is not only a Christian holiday but also a weekend where food is at the center.

For many, salmon, eggs, herring and Jansson's temptation are a matter of course, even though more and more vegetarian alternatives are taking place on the buffet tables.

But if it tastes good, it costs money, and if you want to eat salmon, it costs more.

According to Statistics Sweden's Consumer Price Index, smoked and pickled salmon have become just over eight per cent more expensive since last Easter.

However, not much has happened with the prices of eggs and sweets.

New buying patterns

- You notice that price awareness increases sharply and that people look more at what they buy, so there will be a difference in the buying pattern, says Edvin Danielsson.

He notes that the world situation has increased companies' transport and energy costs, which in the end means that prices are raised in stores.

Pensioner Eva Wisén does not hesitate:

- I think coffee has become very expensive, she says.
