After 16 draws in a row, in which nobody was able to crack the jackpot, he had reached his maximum value of 45 million euros, which will now go to a Hessian after the draw on Wednesday evening.

Because, as the lottery company announced on Thursday, only one player in the Rhine-Main area bet on the right six with the right super number.

He therefore does not have to share the pot with anyone and now receives the 45 million euros alone.

With the six correct numbers 2, 7, 22, 29, 42, 46 and the matching super number 2 on his game receipt, he was the only one nationwide to win in the first prize category.

With his lucky numbers, he prevented the otherwise due guaranteed jackpot payout from going into a lower prize category and at the same time set a new German winnings record for the game “6aus49”.

According to Lotto-Hessen, millions of tipsters nationwide had hoped for the payout of the jackpot, which had increased to the maximum limit, to a lower prize category in Wednesday's draw.

If it weren't for the Hessian direct hit with an additional correct super number, yesterday only five correct numbers plus a super number would have been enough to win the 45 million pot.

Because a special feature of the winnings plan, which has been in force since September 2020, is that when the jackpot reaches its maximum limit of 45 million euros, it is guaranteed to be paid out in the top prize category – instead of the mandatory first prize category – if necessary, six correct ones or even the prize category 3 below with five correct ones plus super number.

Yesterday's 45 million winner, who placed his bet in the Rhine-Main area, is the second lottery millionaire of the current year in Hesse.

At the same time, he set a new national winnings record: he now has the highest winnings ever achieved in a 6aus49 draw in Germany.

This record has been held by a man from Baden-Württemberg since October 2020 with a total prize money of 42.6 million euros.

There was another guaranteed jackpot payout for 6aus49 on January 19, 2022. A Hessian player was also successful there.

The man from Frankfurt was right with the six numbers, as were two players from Baden-Württemberg and one each from Bavaria, Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. Together they divided 45 million euros among themselves and collected 7.5 million euros each.

With this guaranteed payout situation in January, no one nationwide was able to produce the right number.
