International and Yemeni efforts to strengthen the armistice as Houthi violations continue

Informed sources in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, confirmed that the necessary preparations to receive the first commercial flight to Sanaa airport are near completion, which was confirmed by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, as he left Sanaa yesterday.

Grundberg indicated that it was agreed with the Houthi militias to complete the terms of the UN armistice agreement, including the opening of crossings and roads, especially in Taiz, in conjunction with the return of air navigation to Sanaa Airport.

For its part, the Security Council called on the Houthis to engage and work with the United Nations Special Envoy in his efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and negotiate a comprehensive political solution.

He called on the militias to cooperate with the UN envoy to reach a political solution in Yemen through negotiation.

In a statement published by the Norwegian mission to the United Nations, the council members stressed the importance of forming the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen.

The statement considered that "the formation of a presidential leadership council in Yemen is an important step towards stability and reaching a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen."

The UN Security Council had welcomed the announcement of the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, and efforts to reach a political settlement under the auspices of the United Nations, praising the Gulf support for Yemen in order to reach peace, enhance political dialogue and address the humanitarian crisis.

On Thursday evening, Envoy Grundberg is expected to brief the Security Council on the situation in Yemen.

In a brief statement on Twitter, the office of the UN envoy said that Grundberg would brief the Security Council on developments in the situation in Yemen.

For his part, the French ambassador to Yemen, Jean-Marie Safa, called on the Houthi militias to make real concessions to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis and achieve peace in Yemen, similar to the concessions made by the government to that end.

In the Saudi capital, Riyadh, members of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council continued their consultations in order to reach solutions to the crises in the country, foremost of which is establishing dialogue with the Houthi militias, addressing economic issues and alleviating the suffering of the simple citizen.

On the ground, the Yemeni army and tribes forces repelled four Houthi attacks on the Marib, Al-Jawf and Hodeidah fronts, as part of their violations of the armistice during the past few hours, according to the media center of the Yemeni army, stressing that the Houthis exploited the truce to carry out mobilization operations and push large combat reinforcements towards Marib.

The media center of the Yemeni army stated that the army forces, backed by tribes, repelled a Houthi attack on the Al-Alam and Al-Rayyan fronts, east of Hazm Al-Jawf, and another towards the army’s positions in Sirwah, west of Marib, while the joint on the western coast repelled Houthi attacks in the vicinity of Hays.

The statement stated that the army monitored 71 violations of the armistice committed by the Houthi militia on the fronts of Marib, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, Hodeidah, Taiz and Al-Dhalea, including 23 violations on the fronts of the Taiz axis, 20 violations in the south, west and northwest of Ma'rib, 11 in the Al-Barah axes, west of Taiz and Hais, south of Hodeidah, and 7 in Al-Jawf fronts, 6 on the western Hajjah fronts, and 4 on the Al-Dhalea fronts.

Violations varied between infiltration attempts and intense bombardment of our forces’ positions with artillery and various calibers, as well as the militias’ continuing to send human reinforcements, equipment and ammunition to the fronts south and west of Ma’rib, amid continuous overflights by Iranian Houthi drones, pointing to the killing of Houthi leader Abdul Karim Saleh al-Khulani, nicknamed “Abu” Turki, and the Houthi leader, Abu Ali Al-Khatib, on the fronts south of Marib.

In Saada, the stronghold of the Houthis, the militias continued their violations of the UN armistice, for the second day in a row, by launching massive attacks on army positions in the Al-Malahiz front, in the Al-Dhaher district.

Yemeni military sources said that another Houthi attack was thwarted today, Thursday, towards its positions in the east of Al-Malahiz in Al-Dhaher, and inflicted heavy losses on it, one day after a similar attempt by the Houthis to penetrate the army fronts in the district located on the outskirts of the fronts north of Hajjah.

In Taiz, the militias sniped a woman in the eastern region of the city, while she was on her way to a store to buy household needs yesterday afternoon.

In Raymah, the militias stormed the Quran Memorization House in the Salafiya Directorate, and tampered with its contents before burning most of them.
