Nablus

 - From Jenin in the north to Bethlehem in the south, passing through Ramallah in the center, this is how the map of the martyrs whose lives rose yesterday and today were distributed in a number of West Bank cities in the wake of an Israeli escalation and a Palestinian warning of an imminent explosion and calls for a general mobilization.

Since yesterday, Wednesday, 6 martyrs have been killed as a result of the continuous military operations of the Israeli occupation throughout the West Bank, while the escalation continues in Jerusalem.

Together, these events are an extension of continuous confrontations since the beginning of this year, which escalated during the past few weeks in a larger and broader way, and reached its climax so far in the city of Jenin, but it quickly caught fire in the rest of the West Bank cities, prompting the Palestinian Authority to condemn the crimes of the occupation and warn of what it considered a dangerous and sensitive situation. It could explode at any time, as the Palestinian factions gathered for a meeting in Gaza to deliver several messages to Israel.

While experts and politicians who spoke to Al Jazeera Net see that what the West Bank is currently witnessing is a wave of widespread popular protests that may extend to the cities of the West Bank without rising to the point of a massive popular uprising, others believe that these events may pave the way for an uprising if Israel continues to suppress the Palestinians .

nissan gift

Palestinian journalist Muhammad Daraghmeh believes that what is happening now is a popular gift or “April gift” as he calls it, and its basis is a set of political and international policies and procedures, according to which the occupation entered a new phase of the existential threat to the Palestinians. to meet his most basic needs.

This coincided, according to Daraghmeh, with the loss of hope and the blockage of people's horizons with any political solution after Israel closed the road and went for economic and life solutions.

Daraghmeh believes that the transformation of these protests into a popular uprising is conditional on the presence of political forces that agree on their leadership, organizing their effectiveness, and providing them with life and continuity, which does not seem to be available at the moment, because the authority "swallowed" the Fatah movement, which represents the backbone of the Liberation Organization and its liberation project, and the division split the national movement. The Palestinian Authority has dispersed its forces and goals, and destroyed the representative institution, the Legislative Council.

What Daraghmeh concluded was confirmed by Ayman Youssef, a professor of political science at the Arab American University, who pointed out that the ball had already begun to roll from Jenin to the rest of the Palestinian territories, but it was in the form of a "gift" rather than a comprehensive uprising.

Israel considers it a strong wave

Youssef explained that the circumstances today are different from the second popular uprising in 2000, when the alternative was to move towards direct resistance after the failure of the negotiation process, and in the presence of a leader like the late Yasser Arafat.

Currently, the official Palestinian political level is not concerned with any large-scale intifada, and the government of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the "weak coalition", does not want to push for a comprehensive intifada that mixes cards, and therefore the battle will continue to witness hit and miss, and may even develop in some locations, but it will remain in perspective. Nearby is like a field gift.

He added, "We lived a similar and close experience in Beita, Cyrenaica and other areas, and therefore we are facing a cumulative struggle situation that can be invested in politically."

The Palestinian specialist in Israeli affairs, Adel Shadeed, points out that Israel is dealing with what is happening as a "strong wave" that includes wide popular activities, as well as guerrilla operations, most of which are not factional, but are more organized and planned, and firearms are used in them, and therefore led to the deaths and injuries of a number of Israelis. higher than previous times.

For this reason, Israel named its current campaign in the West Bank the name "breaker waves" to confront and break it with various means, including psychological, media, security, military and economic warfare.

He adds that Tel Aviv has prepared for months to address this wave, whether on the defensive by increasing its military units and erecting many barriers, or offensively by launching killings, prosecutions and collective punishments, "but the strength of the current wave imposed itself on everyone, which made Israel confused, confused and unable to understand what's going on."

He asserts that this wave will extend to the rest of the West Bank cities, because the current Palestinian environment in most of them constitutes an incubator and a lever for it, especially with the presence of an angry young generation and other generations that support and support.

crisis situation

Shadid believes that the dire Palestinian political situation with division and the absence of the national field leadership agreed upon by all makes the possibility of turning the wave and the wave of a massive uprising an option that fluctuates in its place, in addition to the existence of a Palestinian authority that cannot allow a major uprising, let alone be a partner in it, because that is a threat It has in light of the current situation, although the authority is in political need for a resistance action that is employed to get it out of its weakness in front of Israel.

Since the beginning of the year, Israel has killed 45 Palestinians (including 4 of the 48);

Of them, 16 since the beginning of this April, and 23 Palestinians since the start of the last series of operations 3 weeks ago, and 13 were killed by the occupation bullets from the city of Jenin alone.

consecutive giveaways

Faced with this, Hussein al-Sheikh, a member of the Executive Committees of the Liberation Organization and the Central Committee of Fatah, accused Israel of taking a decision to increase the pace of killing, and said in an interview with Voice of Palestine radio that the leadership is about to hold a meeting and take "strategic" decisions, while the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called for mobilization. The year, the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip announced a general popular mobilization.

In turn, a member of the political leadership of the popular party, Zaher Al-Shashtari, says that what is happening is successive donations that "we hope" will reach a popular uprising against the practices of the occupation and its settlers, the latest of which was the announcement by the extremist settlers of their intention to slaughter sacrifices at Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Jewish Passover.

In his speech to Al-Jazeera Net, Al-Shashtari relied on the meeting of the Palestinian factions in Gaza yesterday, the statement of the joint operations room of the resistance factions, and the retreat of thousands of Palestinians to protect the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in an escalation of the situation and further confrontation of the occupation.
