France .. the closure of a famous food factory that spread the deadly "E-coli" infection

Yesterday, the French police said that the Public Prosecution inspected a frozen pizza factory in the north of the country, where they suspected that it was the source of an outbreak of E. coli bacteria that infected dozens of children.

An investigation into manslaughter and deceptive practices was opened on April 1 after authorities learned of more than 70 injuries, possibly causing the death of a one-year-old boy and an 18-year-old, according to Agence France-Presse.

The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office, which is leading the investigation, confirmed that the search operation had been carried out in the "Coudry" factory, which is operated by the "Buittoni" company, owned by the Swiss food company "Nestlé".

Nestlé announced the recall of the affected pizza product "Fresh Up" on March 18, and ordered the authorities to stop production in "Coudry" on April 6 after conducting two hygiene checks.

In the closure order, authorities said the inspections "revealed the deterioration of food hygiene controls" and the presence of "rodents" and inadequate measures to prevent pests from contaminating the food production site.
