Emelie Lundkvist from Västerås gave birth to her first child in January 2021. The birth took a long time and was tough.

Some time later, she felt that not everything was right in the pelvic floor.

- It felt like someone stabbed me.

But they found nothing.

The pain continued, and Emelie felt more and more rejected by the care for each visit to the women's clinic.

Only after six months did she receive a referral to the pelvic floor center at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, where they were able to establish that the pelvic floor muscles had broken during the birth.

- It meant everything to me to get a diagnosis.

Following a report to the patient board, the gynecology clinic investigates Emelie's case in an internal investigation.

"It's shameful"

When SVT reports that millions of kronor that would have gone to women's care have not been used, she reacts.

- It's shameful, yes, shameful is the right word.

In another article, the regional councilor Kenneth Östberg (S) answers why they have refrained from using the entire targeted state subsidy.

In the clip, Emelie talks about the experiences of women's health care and the tough times.
