Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2021 - 202206:00 a.m., April 14, 2022
On July 2, 1816, La Méduse, the boat made famous by Géricault's masterpiece, ran aground.
Commander Chaumareys is one of the first to board a rowboat, while a group of sailors organize themselves to survive on a makeshift raft... In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of the History", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach concludes her story on the scandal of the sinking of La Méduse.
While Commander Chaumareys managed to save his skin, on the raft of La Méduse, the situation deteriorated rapidly.
Suicide, hunger, cannibalism... The sailors struggle to survive, driven by the common goal of revenge on their commander.
In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of history", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach completes her story of this dramatic event.
