Chalmers professor on the battery recycling factory in Skellefteå: "First of its kind and necessary"

He calls a battery an important consumer of rare metals.

- Batteries are something that needs very rare materials in itself to work with today's technology and with the constant growth we are in, we must recycle, we can not just put in newly broken metals, states Christian Ekberg.

He has been involved in researching the method to be used in Skellefteå, and has had an interest in lithium-ion battery recycling for many years.

But when Christian Ekberg wanted to do research on lithium-ion batteries fifteen years ago, he was met with laughter.
