Investigations by the Public Prosecution revealed that the accused communicated with the victim by phone and told him that he was an employee of a local bank, and asked him to provide him with a code sent to him via a text message from the bank, so the victim provided him with the code, then discovered that the accused had seized 33,000 dirhams, so he visited the bank quickly and was Coordination between the two banks, and making sure that the accused withdrew 15,000 dirhams of the amount he embezzled, so the rest of the amount was frozen by the accused's bank.

The victim testified in the prosecution’s investigations that he received a call from a person claiming to be an employee of a local bank, asking him to update the data, or his bank card would be suspended. The witness replied that he would review the bank first in this regard.

He said that the accused told him that he would receive a text message on his phone, and the message had already been received, and after two days he asked him to update the data and send the number he received from the bank, so he informed him of the password, and then he was surprised that the amount was deducted from his account, so he addressed the bank and suspended the account.

For his part, the accused admitted in the investigations of the Public Prosecution that he committed the crime, and stated that he had previously been accused twice in two similar incidents, and he was sentenced in one of them to one year in prison, and in the second to six months in prison, and implemented both penalties, but he retracted his statements before the court and denied his full knowledge of the victim And he had never dealt with it.

After examining the case, the court confirmed in the merits of the ruling that it had complete confidence in all the evidence contained in the case, and convinced it that the accused used to defraud using information technology means by entering the websites of banks and impersonating their employees.

And it stated that he targeted the victim in the last incident in the same way, and seized from him an amount of 15,000 dirhams and transferred it to an account owned by him and disposes of it alone, which establishes the court’s conviction that he seized the aforementioned amount, and sentenced him to imprisonment for three months and a fine of 15,000 dirhams, then deported him. about the state.

The security services and the Public Prosecution have warned several times against negligence in maintaining the confidentiality of bank data, especially those related to accounts and credit cards.

She stressed that electronic fraud gangs globally are using advanced means and techniques in the penetration process, noting that the concerned agencies in the country provide adequate protection systems, but account holders and card holders must have a degree of responsibility in maintaining the confidentiality of their data.

Dubai Police also launched a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of electronic fraud under the title "Do not be a victim of electronic phishing", and stressed that the teams specialized in combating this type of crime are doing their best in control and deterrence operations, but public awareness remains a major factor in protecting them from these criminals. .
