6 months imprisonment and 100,000 dirhams fine for organized beggary

The State Public Prosecution, through a tweet published today on its social media accounts, clarified the penalty for the crime of organized beggary.

The Public Prosecution indicated that in accordance with Article 476 of Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 regarding the issuance of the Crimes and Penalties Law, which stipulates that whoever manages the crime of organized begging that is committed shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of no less than six months and a fine of no less than 100,000 dirhams. From an organized group of two or more persons.. The same penalty shall apply to anyone who recruits persons to the state to use them in the crime of organized beggary.

Article 477 of the same Decree-Law stipulates that whoever participates in the crime of organized beggary shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months and a fine of no less than 5000 dirhams, or one of these two penalties. Or he is charged with observing or caring for the beggar or has direct authority over him.
