Tuesday, late morning, a two-seater aerobatic aircraft crashed in the town of Prat-Bonrepaux, in Ariège.

The two test pilots from the Toulouse company Aura Aero died in the crash of the Integral R prototype, the first flight of which took place in July 2020.

An accident that caused a great stir in the world of aerobatics.

The two pilots, Simon de la Bretèche and Baptiste Vignes, were indeed very well known in this environment.

The first had been vice-world champion and Advanced European champion indicates the French Aeronautical Federation.

The second had an Advanced world champion title in 2010 and had been coach of the French Advanced aerobatic team from 2016 to 2019.

The federation mourns their disappearance

“Both pilots of the French team, they have been an integral part of the history of aerobatics of our federation throughout their aeronautical career in competition, marked in particular by several titles in the World and European Advanced Championship followed by excellent performances in Team Unlimited.

They helped shape the dynamic and successful image of the French aerobatic school,” the Federation explained in a Facebook post.

"Both multi-medal winners in numerous international competitions will leave an indelible mark in the history of sports aviation", supports France Spectacle Aérien, which brings together the actors of air meetings.
