The email was sent this Wednesday afternoon to some 42,000 students and 4,000 staff from the University of Nantes.

And he surprised more than one.

The president of the university, Carine Bernault, indeed comes out of her reserve by asking the recipients to go to the polls on April 24, the date of the second round of the presidential election, and not to vote for Marine le Pen.

“I am sending you this unusual but essential message in view of the issues attached to this vote”, writes the one who was elected to head the university in July 2020.

“Discrimination, exclusion, turning in on oneself will never be a solution, indicates the letter.

The difference is a wealth, the contradiction is the very essence of the university.

Because the foundations of the university are in question, I solemnly call on you to vote on April 24 to block the far right and therefore the National Rally.

Whatever the result on April 24, you can count on my commitment to defend our values.

Contacted, Carine Bernault's entourage explains that her position is in agreement with that published the day before by France Universities, an organization bringing together the leaders of 116 higher education and research establishments.

This conference of presidents explicitly called for “voting for Emmanuel Macron”.
