Two long years without being able to fully celebrate Rännardagen is over.

The shops have filled the shelves, the hotels are ready.

And this year, Systembolaget has not closed as they usually do on the runner day.

Instead, they should keep it open, but with stationed security guards.

- Now we can live again, it will be thick with people in town, says Heidi Caroline Nyström, at Strömstad merchants' association.

Risk of long queues on the roads

Municipal policewoman Sara Olsson is looking forward to working during Maundy Thursday, but she also urges locals to stay home and warns of long queues on the roads.

- There may be 8,000 to 10,000 Norwegians, maybe even more.

There is a pent-up need, says Sara Olsson.

Hard load

Municipal director Mats Brocker is looking forward to Rännardagen with mixed feelings.

While welcoming tourists, he sees a heavy load on the city.

 - We have learned to live with this, he says.
