A 21-year-old young man was shot dead by the police in Berre-l'Etang (Bouches-du-Rhône), a town in western Marseille, during an anti-drug operation, reports
The Marseille PJ police officers were preparing to arrest a dozen individuals after witnessing a major drug transaction when one of the thugs' vehicles ran over them.
One of the officers then opened fire while the officers managed to avoid the car.
The body of the young man, from the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, was found in the abandoned vehicle a kilometer away, visibly fatally hit by a return fire.
An investigation by the IGPN, the police force, is underway.
The policeman who fired the shot was heard in police custody, the daily said.
Another investigation for attempted homicide of a person holding public authority has been opened.
