Assignment to FHM: Increase preparedness for a new corona wave

The Swedish Public Health Agency is commissioned to quickly produce a contingency plan for whether covida infection increases again in Sweden.

The government is expected to make a decision on Wednesday.

- That the pandemic is ongoing is quite obvious and we have lifted our restrictions, so we need to get ready for the situation to change, says Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren to TT.

On April 1, the pandemic laws were abolished.

The Swedish Public Health Agency will now, in consultation with the relevant authorities, draw up a contingency plan for the implementation of advice, recommendations and other possible infection control measures in the event of an increased spread of infection and in which situations and in what order they will be introduced.

Exactly what advice and recommendations

it can be is difficult to say, according to Lena Hallengren.

- Even if the pandemic is not over, we would not have abolished the pandemic law and all restrictions if we thought we would soon introduce them again.

On the other hand, we do not know how the world around us develops, so they need to assess which situations we may need to take into account.

TT: But is there not a risk that the same problem will arise again, which was the reason why the pandemic law was introduced?

- We do not see it as the most likely.

Now we have knowledge about the pandemic, we all know how to behave and we know much more about the virus.

It's more about getting advice and recommendations in the right position, says Lena Hallengren.

The Government states that advice,

recommendations and infection control measures must be proportionate and not go beyond what is absolutely necessary.

Fundamental freedoms and rights must be protected.
