No more walks in total freedom for the dogs of Saint-Mard (Seine-et-Marne).

The town hall has issued an order obliging the masters to keep their companions on a leash during walks in the city, reports La Marne.

All dogs must be kept on a leash “regardless of race”, specifies the mayor of the commune, Daniel Dometz.

"Spot checks" will also take place to verify compliance with the measure.

A dog attack at the end of March

The decision comes a few weeks after a woman was attacked by a dog at the end of March.

The animal, which was not on a leash, attacked the walker's dog.

She intervened and was bitten on the hands.

The victim was taken care of by paramedics and hospitalized.

She was operated on for her injuries.

His dog, also injured in the attack, was taken care of by a veterinarian.

The aggression had moved many inhabitants of Saint-Mard.
