The ministerial talks on foreign affairs and defense between the United States and India, the so-called "2 plus 2", were held, and it was confirmed that close talks will be continued on Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, including humanitarian assistance.

A ministerial meeting on foreign affairs and defense was held on the 11th in Washington, the capital of the United States, with Secretary of State Blinken and Defense Secretary Austin from the United States, and Foreign Minister Jaishankar and Defense Minister Shin from the Indian side.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the talks confirmed that Russia would continue to talk closely about the military invasion of Ukraine, including humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

They also agreed that an independent investigation into the brutal acts of violence against civilians should be conducted following the finding that many civilians were killed in Bucha near the capital Kyiv.

Regarding this military invasion, India does not directly blame Russia, which has been a friend of nations for many years and has been the largest supplier of weapons, and is distinct from Europe and the United States, which are tightening sanctions.

At a press conference after the talks, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, "The relationship between India and Russia has been built for decades," keeping in mind that India depends on Russia to procure weapons. Times have changed. America wants to be an Indian partner in all areas. "

In response, India's Foreign Minister Jaishankal said, "The world is changing and we will see how it is most in the national interest to deal with it."

The United States wants to work with India to further increase pressure on Russia while imposing sanctions on Russia in collaboration with Western countries.
