On April 11, local time, the Philippine disaster relief department said that at least 24 people have been killed and more than 130,000 people have been affected by the floods and landslides caused by tropical storm "Catfish" after making landfall in the Philippines.

The Philippine Meteorological Department said that Catfish has weakened into a tropical depression and is slowly moving north-northwestward.

The Philippines is located in the western Pacific typhoon belt and suffers from an average of 20 typhoons or tropical storms per year.
