“Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia to record and investigate the circumstances of the desecration of the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators in the Lithuanian city of Zhaslyai,” the message on the website of the Investigative Committee says.

According to available data, the monument at the mass grave in Zhaslyai was doused with red paint.

It was instructed to give a procedural assessment of what happened.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy sent a note of protest to the German Foreign Ministry demanding to eliminate the consequences of the desecration of the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators in a park in Berlin.
