Literally "mixed rice" in Korean, bibimpap, a very popular dish in Korea.
It is an easy to make, complete and original dish, with a large number of variations.
If its name means "mixed rice", it is however not served like this: each of the ingredients being isolated, the mixture only occurs when it is tasted.
Bibimbap normally consists of 5 basic ingredients which represent the 5 natural elements before chaos: rice (water), egg (earth), green vegetables (wood), red vegetables (fire ), meat (metal).
The tradition is that we start by observing the pure elements, then, with the chopsticks, we create chaos in the bowl!
This recipe does not go back to the mists of time but appears in the 19th century in a famous anonymous cookery book which compiles traditional Korean recipes.
It has since become a symbol of the country's cuisine and is exported everywhere.
Ideally, it should be served in a very hot stone bowl in which the rice finishes cooking
Bibimpap recipe for 2 people
Ingredients :
200 g of rice
2 eggs
100 g of green vegetables (cucumber, zucchini) cut into strips
50 g grated carrots
1 chopped onion
200 g of chicken
Soya sauce
sesame sheaths
Coriander
For the sauce:
1 C.
at s.
soy sauce
2 tbsp.
at s.
sesame oil
1 C.
c.
chilli paste
1 C.
c.
honey
1 C.
at s.
water
1 C.
c.
sesame seeds
Combine the ingredients for the sauce
Stew the rice
Sauté the chicken with a little soy sauce and sesame seeds
Cook the fried eggs
Arrange the very hot rice in the back of the bowl and the other ingredients on the sides: pour the sauce and place the fried egg on top
