On 7 April, the Swedish Work Environment Authority, together with several authorities, carried out a workplace inspection of the battery factory in Skellefteå.

Of the 13 companies that were inspected, almost all were required to rectify deficiencies, the police report.

The shortcomings are partly due to insufficient protection so that construction workers can not fall from high heights and excavators and cranes without proper inspection.

In a shaft, there was a risk that soil could fall on workers.

Foreign workers who do not have a permit have also been found at the workplace.

- Such inspections are carried out on an ongoing basis by larger buildings, and even if the shortcomings that are highlighted are smaller than on previous occasions, of course every shortcoming is a shortcoming too much, writes Anders Thor, responsible for public relations at Northvolt, in a comment.

- In general, we now work with relevant authorities, Building and other unions to bring their expertise already in the procurement of subcontractors, he writes.

Building positive despite shortcomings

Despite last week's inspection showing many shortcomings, Byggnads is still positive about the development at Northvolt.

- There have still been a lot of improvements.

Our dialogue with Nortvolt cannot be compared to how it was a year ago.

Now you understand the importance of a collaboration, says Pierre Petterson at Byggnads.
