McCarthy reportedly said that if Republicans win a House majority in the 2022 midterm elections, they will focus on "holding the Biden administration accountable for its work."
If they find that the Biden administration has violated the law, they also do not rule out the option of impeachment.
“We know that impeachment by Democrats is usually for political reasons,” McCarthy said, “but we believe in the rule of law. We don’t pick and choose someone just because they have power. We want to uphold the law. If someone breaks the law and needs impeachment, we will move in that direction. But we will not use impeachment for political purposes.”
The report said that in the summer of 2021, due to the chaotic withdrawal of US troops in Afghanistan, some Republican lawmakers called for the impeachment of Biden.
Other Republican lawmakers who support Biden's impeachment also cited criticism of other Biden administration policies, such as border and immigration policies.
The report also said that if the Republicans win the House majority, McCarthy will become House Speaker.
He promised a series of oversight actions to investigate the Biden administration.

McCarthy also said, "America has been through too much impeachment to play with politics, and we will investigate on the basis of facts. But if the facts do rise to a violation of the law, we will use the law to decide."
