China News Service, Toronto, April 11. The Canadian government announced on April 11 that the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will visit Canada in May this year.

  Charles and Camilla's visit will be part of Canada's year-long series of celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne.

During their planned three-day visit, they will visit Newfoundland and Labrador, the Capital Territory and the Northwest Territories, but no specific itinerary has been announced.

  Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that during the Charles and his wife's visit to Canada, they will see the diversity and kindness of Canadians, as well as the beauty of Canada's rich natural landscape.

  Charles and Camilla last visited Canada in late June to early July 2017.

They were present at the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Canadian Confederation.

  As a Commonwealth of Nations, Canada's head of state is the Queen of England, but the Governor-General nominated by the Canadian Prime Minister and appointed by the Queen of England acts on his behalf.
